Back Cover SummaryEdit
Allied troops are engaged in a bitter struggle against the Japanese for control of Burma in the spring of 1943. Harry Porter gets all the rotten jobs in his battalion, like filling up sandbags and digging trenches - a pity, because he always fancied himself as a bit of a hero.
But after an artillery barrage, the gormless Private is separated from his fellow soldiers and finds a fanatical Jap patrol on his trail.
Our hapless hero also has to contend with a grumpy sergeant ... and a very obstinate animal that is anything but a military mule!
